Mercedes, Letter #3 (No Letter Last Week)

Image
¡Hola Familia y Amigos! This week has been quite a ride! My area is the best. We have been taking so many bike days, so I'm getting quite a nice farmer's tan, for the first time in my life. :D! Biking in 100 degrees every day is really one of the daily miracles we see in the mission! Haha. I love biking because we get to talk with everyone! We have definitely had some wierd encounters with people on the streets. We are still right on the Mexican border, so we see a lot of crazy things, especially on bikes, and that's super fun. Haha! I am eating so much carne and arroz and frijoles I don't know what to do with myself. But it's the beauty of being in Mexicito :D  We've had some wonderful teaching experiences. One thing I have experienced this week is the edifying power of the Spirit. I have seen the miracle of the phrase, "whom the Lord calls, He qualifies." Missions are by no means easy. There are endless demands. But I have seen how God has a...

Mercedes, Letter #2

Image
This is Hermana Nieves, Rachelle's newest greenie. And here is a screenshot of her cute new apartment. I looked up her address in Google Maps. Sorry. When she doesn't send pictures, I have to come up with   something! Updates from Mom We received another "no-time-to-write" letter this week. Sorry. Also, another week of no photos. Boo. We did learn through Google Hangout Chats this week a few things: She LOVES her new area. She LOVES her new ward. Everybody is from Mexico--except the Bishop who is a "gringo" with bright red hair. She says that he speaks Spanish like a Mexican and that he speaks English like a Mexican too. LOL. She loves that. She LOVES Mexicans. She LOVES Mole (a Mexican dish with chicken in a spicy chocolate sauce). It's her favorite food from the mission so far.  She LOVES speaking Spanish. She says the language comes very easily to her, though she isn't fluent yet (first Spanish-speaking area of the mission)....

Mercedes, Letter #1 (First Transfer @ Seven Months. She's Training Again. And opening a new area.)

Rachelle's new area: Mercedes, Texas (Spanish-Speaking) She is opening a new area for sisters, and she will be training again. Looks just like Brownsville--without the ocean. Apparently, football is HUGE in Mercedes. ...and so is the rodeo. ...and so are yearly balloon festivals. ...and so are boots. ...and so are floods. Average temperatures in Mercedes are hotter than normal. And theft is a thing. Murder, not so much. (Whew!) Hola Todos!!! I have hardly any time this week!  We have actually seen a lot of miracles this week that have been really amazing to see.  I am so sad to leave my incredible Hawaiian companion Sis. Jamile, but we got transfers this week and I found out my new area is called Mercedes!  I am going to be speaking SPANISH and TRAINING once again!!! This transfer has been a whirlwind but I know more miracles and blessings are soon to come!  I can't wait to meet my second greenie, and get to kno...
