| Baptism of Hermano Falcon, Sr. |
Quick updates this week:
Hermano Falcon (recent convert and assistant ward mission leader, left) baptized his father, Hermano Falcon, Senior this week. Rachelle has loved working with this family and teaching them, and the Falcons really wanted to be ready for baptism before Rachelle left for home. That was the goal. Goal achieved!
She says that the baptism was so awesome because another set of missionaries filled the font for them and accidentally locked the door. So when Brother Falcon and his dad tried to enter the font, they couldn't get in. Brother Falcon, determined, gracefully hopped over the glass from the front and landed in the water just to be sure that the baptismal service would proceed. Thanks to his agility, he was able to baptize his father that day. His daughter, Andre (in black), a recent convert, was there as well to watch and support. The sisters made a chocolate cake for Hermano Falcon, Senior after the baptism, and he said, "Mmmm. Better than coffee!" which made the sisters laugh.
The work continues to go well. There is so much to do that there isn't enough time to do it--even with four sisters working the area. Right now, the quad-anionship has about about 40 progressing investigators, and more dates for families to be baptized in the coming weeks and months.
In other news, Rachelle will be welcoming a new mission president, President OCampo, this week, and sending her beloved President Torres home. The exchange happens on the 27th. They are doing their best to make the new president feel welcomed. The sisters had the idea to have each missionary send in a two-second video clip of themselves introducing themselves to the new mission president. The girls put all the videos together in one video that they will show to the new mission president and his family when they come. Presidente OCampo and his family will feel a big hug from the mission when he arrives. Watch the video here.
Weather is turning hotter. 95 degrees is cool, Rachelle says.
Rachelle turns 21 on Sunday. Drop her a birthday note at rachelle.clarke@missionary.org.
