Lots of pictures this week!

Rachelle's P-Day was Saturday this week, and we had a fun time talking to her about all the exciting events of the past seven days. Most of it was centered around the transition with her mission president. Here's a recap of what she said:

  • Rachelle had her final interview with President Torres on Tuesday, and she said that it was one of the most meaningful and spiritual experiences of her life. I won't put the details down here, but she is very grateful for the time she has had to spend with him.
  • On Thursday, the new mission president, President OCampo and his family, arrived in McAllen. The next day, The Torres family left. Rachelle got to take the Torres family to the airport, and she said it was so sad to say goodbye.
  • The rest of the day, Rachelle and the other STLT's and AP's met with President OCampo and began discussing affairs of the mission. She said that President OCampo is very Christlike and kind. He always asks the missionaries for their counsel and feedback, and he made them feel very valued. Sister OCampo is a returned missionary herself, and Language Arts teacher, just like her mom. She said that Sister OCampo is strong and wise and eager to be involved int he work with her husband. She really really likes her. Rachelle said that even though she loved her President Torres, she was filled right away with love for President OCampo and that she felt a strong assurance that he has been called of the Lord to preside over the Texas, McAllen mission at this time. Rachelle said that it was not hard at all to love him and give him her 100% support.
  • President OCampo surprised Rachelle and one other sister missionary on Saturday when he texted and asked her to accompany him on his first tour of the mission this coming week. In the past, the STLT's have not accompanied the mission president on his mission tours, and so she was honored when he asked her to go with him. She is SO excited to follow him and learn from him as he meets with the missionaries throughout the mission and teaches them for the first time. She can't imagine a better way to spend her final week of the mission.
  • The work continues to move. Her 40 progressing investigators are still progressing, and many of them will be baptized soon, though probably after Rachelle gets home. The best part is that she will still be able to call them and send and receive pictures. She is just grateful that the work of conversion continues.
  • Words cannot express how grateful and happy she is that she has had this opportunity to serve the Lord for 18 months.
Rachelle returns home on Wednesday, July 10th @ 4:43 PM. She will speak in sacrament meeting on July 14th @ 10:30 AM at 900 Eaglepointe Way in North Salt Lake. Any and all are welcome to both events.

Last update will be scheduled for next Saturday (her new P-Day)!

When she was doing exchanges with the sisters in Brownsville, she was able to see some old ward members she loved: the Young Men's and Young Women's Presidents.
